Find Control("list Box Product"), List Box) If Not ddl Is Nothing Then ddl. Controls(0), Text Box) If Not price Is Nothing Then price.

Please help me with writing a Row Updating function in C#, I don't know how to grab the current field's value and also get the old value for one of keys (which is Project Name for editing) of the selected row. the idea wa to don't allow binding the grid view after a post back.

I have a Grid View control and use old style manual binding with a Data Source property and invoke the Data Bind() method.

If you don't use one of the Data Source controls, you are required to handle the Row Updating event.

I have the following code below in my Grid View1_Row Updating event. Maybe after midnight today, or sometime this weekend. When I go to configure the datasource for my Object Data Source, on my first screen where I designate the business object, my dropdownlist is blank. Turns out getting the DAL, BLL, and the Object Data Souce in place, did the trick. Tracing the code, using both methods above, the value of the textbox is not being passed back; it doesn't appear in the newvalues either.

That probably needs to be linked into the Object Data Source along my Get Products, as well as the Add Products, and Delete Product methods. Problem is, I don't have the time at the moment yet. And back to my original question, how to I get the new value? I have a gridview, go into edit mode, enter a value in a textbox, then click update.

Count ----------- The most common problem for losing new data entered while updating a Grid View or Data Grid is that you are resetting the Data Source for the Grid View or Data Grid in the Page_Load method. I actually don't know how to write the Row Updating function, I just found it from the internet, and so of course it's not working.

A friend asked me to help him out on this and frankly it has me completely stumped as well.

Couldn't figure out why but like this i can retrieve the updated values with the same code that didn't work with several Template Fields. Hi all, I have been struggling with this issue for about 6 hours. After I click the update button, I change the value to 150. My gridview is not bound to a Sql Datasource or Object Datasource. Thanks The currency manager is in Windows Forms programming. My hunch is that the Sql Data Source and Object Data Source has provisions to tie into an update method/stored procedure. Text); Unfortunately, it looks like I'm getting the value prior to the edit. Let's say the column value is 15 before I click the update button. To String() also, but that might have got me a blank string instead. If you find a solution, or if the above helps, please let me know. To determine the field name of an entry, use the Dictionary Entry. To determine the value of an entry, use the Dictionary Entry. I am binding to a custom datasource in the code behind.
